Steam Engine Model, 1925

The goal of the treatment was to preserve the object as well as returning it to a functional state. Missing parts were refabricated, and many other minor details were addressed before the engine would run. Exposed metal on the surface was treated with tannic acid to create a stable layer of ferric tannate and to darken the areas to match the original black paint. After treatment the engine was successfully run.
