Wailing Bell, 1997
Initial inspection revealed extensive fungal and insect damage in the wood base. The compromised wood was replaced with a stainless steel support. As the sculpture was lifted into place, welders secured the new stainless steel supports. The sculpture was washed and the bronze sections were heated and waxed. The wood was treated with a boric acid to discourage future insect and fungal attack. The sculpture was then sealed to discourage water absorption.
